Everyone who has an interest in promoting sailing in Banderas Bay is welcome to become a member of SSS. You do not have to be a member of VYC to participate in SSS!

Whale Watching

Come Welcome our large friends to the bay. December 8th is the semi-official start of the Whale Watching "season" on Banderas Bay. Some of the tour operators have reported fewer sightings in recent years due to increased traffic and poor control of the whale watching fleet. The best bet has beeen the North Coast between Nuevo and Punta de Mita, so we'll start off that way. Yemaya will be getting off the dock about 10:00 and will monitor VHF 22 @ 63. We'll have a nice day just mucking about in boats, even if the whales are playing hard to get!

The Crocodile Classic - Paddleboard Day at VYC

Join us for the first VYC Paddleboard Day! VYC has partnered with the Pacific Paddle for the first in a series of paddleboard events for the entire family. There is something for everyone: a Beginner fun race, a Distance sprint for the more experienced and a Relay race for Kids.

Pacific Paddle Surf from Bucerias is bringing plenty of paddleboards for participants who want to borrow one and try this amazing new sport. Proceeds go toward sending the Mexican National Stand-up Paddleboard Team (SUP) to the 2013 International Surfing Assn Games.

Christmas Toy Drive

The holidays are coming, and there will be many ways to reflect the spirit of the season by helping those less fortunate. The simple gift of a toy can give a kid a smile this Christmas! Starting December 1st, the VYC will be collecting toys for the kids of Families at the Dump. An extra item in your shopping cart can help make this Christmas a memorable one!  Dates: December 1-23, 2012 at Vallarta Yacht Club

We're helping give toys to 400 kids from the families assisted by FAD. These are the families not assisted by other agencies, and they are learning skills for a better life and trying to escape the lowest level of poverty. Without our help, they can't make their goal of a toy for each child.Toys will be distributed at their Kings Day celebration in early January.

Sailor Splash Party

The State of Nayarit welcomes the 2012-2013 season's cruisers to Banderas Bay. The Party starts at VYC then travels to La Cruz for the evening event. Several boats from Paradise are making the trip, come join the fun! This leads into the Banderas Bay Blast December 12-14.

Banderas Bay Blast

Join the cruising fleet (and the racers) for three days of low key fun cruising in Banderas Bay.

December 12 is the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the On the Water Event will start and end in La Cruz. Lokk for something creative from Mike Danielson to make the day interesting!

December 13 takes the boats up to Punta de Mita for a beach party and the opening of the Punta de Mita Boat and Surf Club

December 14 sees people surfing in the morning then gathering crew for the "Pirates for Pupils" spinnaker run back to Nuevo Vallarta and the Vallarta Yacht Club for the "Awards Party" and to settle the Lucha Libre bets that have been made over the last three days.
