The J70 Mexican National Championships had it all: big winds, fierce competition, and a few white-knuckle moments that made for a weekend to remember! Mother Nature turned on the fan with southerly gusts hitting 20 knots and beyond, putting the fleet’s skills to the ultimate test.
Saturday’s two races were fast and furious, setting the stage for an epic Sunday showdown. Zaguero came in hot, fresh off their European triumph at the Corinthian Championship. But with this much talent on the water, the crystal ball was foggy—no telling who’d take the cup!

As part of the prestigious MEXICANA de Vela circuit, this regatta continues to play a key role in developing competitive sailing in the region and serving as a stepping stone for future champions.
Hosted at the world-class Vallarta Yacht Club, the WesMex Regatta has earned a reputation for delivering top-tier racing conditions, challenging courses, and a vibrant sailing community. With its consistent winds, warm waters, and stunning backdrop of Banderas Bay, the venue provides the perfect setting for intense yet thrilling competition.

<p>Attention all fun-loving sailors! Our exciting <strong>Beer Can Races</strong> are back, kicking off on <strong>November 20th</strong> and happening <strong>every other week</strong> until<strong> January 29th. They will start again on February 19th and every other week, including a New Year's</strong><strong> Day race!</strong></p>

<li><strong>When?</strong> Races start at 3pm. One race a day.</li>
<li><strong>Where?</strong> Banderas Bay. Starts are in front of the Marival Resort, Nuevo Nayarit. Races start at 3pm. One race a day.</li>
<li><strong>What’s in store?</strong> Thrilling races, great company, Whale watching and/or dodging, and the best place to sail in Mexico!</li>
<li><strong>Who can participate?</strong> Anyone and Everyone. Even if you don’t have a boat. You can come out and crew for someone or come along for a ride.</li>

As we move closer to the completion of our club's renovation project, I have some exciting updates to share. We have changed most of the lighting throughout the club and restaurant and painted the club a rich blue which adds a warm, nautical style and feel to our club. We have also added a beautiful custom made trophy case to display our many trophies, awards and photos with room for more! There is a relaxing lounge area and the Game Room tables and chairs have been changed to add more comfortable seating. We still have more to do but our goal of completing the project by the end of October is on track. VYC Opening Day and the Re-Grand Opening of Picante Grill will be Saturday, November 9th where we will showcase our newly renovated club! We look forward to welcoming you!
